Student names are unfortunately a common mistake on the FAFSA®! That's because you need to make sure all three of these match: 

1. Your name, listed on the FAFSA®
2. Your name, when registering for your FSA ID
3. Your name, as it appears on your Social Security Card

In other words, you need to be using your full, legal name on all three of these. If your name is even slightly off (missing middle name, missing hyphenated/second part of last name, etc.), then the system won't be able to match you up, and you won't be able to sign your FAFSA® with your FSA ID. 

What if your FSA ID name is wrong? 

If you didn't use your full, legal name for your FSA ID (but you did do it correctly on your FAFSA®), then you'll simply need to correct your FSA ID. 

Login to the FSA ID website. Navigate to Account Settings. Correct your information under Personal Information.
